History

1920

Founded in Venice in 1920 by engineer Ugo Mantelli, the company S.A.C.A.I.M S.p.A – Società per Azioni Cementi Armati Ingegner Mantelli

1930

In the first decade since its foundation, the Company’s activity is identified on the one hand with important infrastructure projects in the historic center of Venice, such as: the Ponte della Libertà that connects Venice to the mainland, the parking terminal in Piazzale Roma, the restoration of palaces and of buildings for use by the Biennale d’Arte; on the other, with the construction, in the industrial area of Porto Marghera, of factories and land and sea infrastructures on behalf of the major Italian and foreign industries of the time.

1940-1970

In the following decades, the expansion of the Company was aimed at all other categories of works in Italy, on behalf of public bodies and private clients, also with the construction of infrastructural works such as the construction of the bridge over the Piave in Ponte di Piave and the Travignolo Dam in Predazzo and the 5th section of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway

1970-2000

Within the Conservative and Art Restoration Sector – one of SACAIM’s main specializations – the consolidated experience of the company has found expression in the recovery of important historic buildings, in the context of a strong bond always maintained with its city of origin, such as the restoration of the most important hotels in the city, including l’Hotel Bauer, l’Hotel Gritti e l‘Hotel Excelsior Danieli.

In the early 2000s SACAIM completed the restoration of the Accademia Galleries, the restoration and recovery of the Patriarchal Seminary, and the restoration of the historic site of the “Ca’ Foscari” University of Venice, which represents a another important intervention for buildings intended for culture.

2001

In 2001, S.A.C.A.I.M. obtained the assignment of the reconstruction and recovery of the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice, almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1997, an intervention that occupies a place of absolute importance among the works carried out by the company to date.

2001-2010

Equally significant are the restoration projects of the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza, symbol of the city and included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which was awarded the “European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage – Europe Competition Our 2014”. With reference to the Infrastructure Sector, among the most qualified works we should mention the realizations for the High Speed Railway Node of the doubling of the Milan-Mortara railway line, as well as various other works for Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Anas

As part of the public transport works, we highlight the construction of the new road tram between Venice and Mestre, as well as the innovative “People Mover”, a “light railway” infrastructure connecting the island of Tronchetto and the historic center of With reference to the Infrastructure Sector, among the most qualified works we should mention the realizations for the High Speed Railway Node of the doubling of the Milan-Mortara railway line, as well as various other works for Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Anas

2013

In 2013 SACAIM became part of the Gruppo de Eccher, one of the main players in the construction and engineering sector in Italy and in the world, strengthening the Group in the specialization of the restoration of historic buildings subject to monumental and historical-artistic constraints.

Between 2014 and 2022 Sacaim, thanks to the push of the de Eccher Group, carries out important restoration works of global caliber and visibility such as the Fondaco dei Tedeschi at Rialto, the Procuratie Vecchie of Piazza San Marco in Venice, collaborating with internationally renowned architects and designers, and achieving important acquisitions also in the Life Science and industrial segment.

Today

SACAIM today is counted among the main construction companies active in the specialized field of the restoration of historic buildings, construction of hotels & resorts, luxury residential and prestigious buildings, with over a century of experience and constructions throughout Italy.
