Description

Sacaim pursued with determination and expertise the restoration of Camerino’s Archbishop’s Palace, one of the city’s most impressive and significant historic buildings damaged in the 2016 earthquake. Located in the main square, this monumental palace dated back to the 16th century and suffered significant structural damage after the earthquake, but it was restored to its former glory thanks to a challenging restoration project.

The intervention was part of one of six construction sites as part of Marche Reconstruction, a project that saw Sacaim as a key player in the region’s post-earthquake rebirth. The restoration of the Archbishop’s Palace represented a real technical challenge, involving the structural consolidation of the building, preserving the original load-bearing structures and the historical value of the building. At the same time, work was carried out on securing the historic frescoes and restoring the decorated caned vaults, symbols of the building’s artistic and cultural value. The stone elements of the facades were also restored with the utmost attention to detail.

This intervention represented an example of excellence in conservation restoration, one of Sacaim’s specialties, and returned to the city of Camerino not only an important museum, but a historical and cultural heritage that told the centuries-long history of the city and the region. A project that not only brought an architectural masterpiece back to life, but also restored a place that symbolized hope and rebirth for the local community.
